Tempting Tuesday

It’s almost Super Bowl Sunday- yay!! No, I do not watch football, but I definitely know how to enjoy a great party of food, drinks, friends and funny commercials! For as long as I can remember my parents have thrown a great party, with my dad making his famous spicy chili and my mom getting the best prizes for our pool (somehow even the losers leave with prizes:)  So this year I decided I want to make something delicious and fun for everyone to enjoy.  I took a soft pretzel recipe from my favorite youtube chef, Laura Vitale, and my own baked cheese dip… and OH-EM-GEE, what happened from there was beyond delicious.  


Soft Pretzel Bites and Baked Pepper Jack Cheese Dip:

The yeast starting to foam

Dough ready to rise

Greased bowl

The dough after rising for 1 hour

The dough cut up ready to make into bites

This is where I changed the recipe.  Instead of forming the dough into traditional pretzel shapes, I cut them into bite size pieces

Before placing them into the boiling water and baking soda

Bites with egg wash and salt

After baking for 8 minutes my bites were perfect!

Baked cheese dip (recipe below)

Dip the pretzel into the warm dip and enjoy!!!

  Baked Pepper Jack cheese dip:
-1 pound pepper jack cheese (shredded)
-1 pound extra sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
-3 cups Milk (any kind is fine)
-3 tablespoons all purpose flour
-2 tablespoons butter


Begin by making a roux in a sauce pan with the flour, milk and butter.  Once this has turned into a roux add the cheeses and stir them until completely melted.  Place into a bowl to bake in.  Bake at 375degrees for about 15 minutes, or until the top beings to brown.
